Harry Potter Film Review

Harry potter and the philosophers stone is the first film in the Harry potter series based on the novels by J.K.Rowling. It is a tale of Harry potter, an ordinary 11 year old boy serving as a sort of slave for his aunt and uncle who learns that he is actually a Wizard and has been invited to attended the Hogwarts school for witchcraft and wizardry. Harry is snatched away from his muggle existence by Rubeus Hagrid, the grounds keeper at Hogwarts, and is quickly thrown into a world completely foreign to both him and the viewer. Famous for an incident that has happened when he was about one years old, harry makes friends easily at his new school. He soon finds, however, that the wizarding world is far more dangerous for him than he would have imagined, and he quickly learns that not all wizards are ones to be trusted.

I think that this film shows that witches are not accepted in society, because the Dursleys think that they are above harry and other people within the wizard community and the fact that the general society in the wizarding world have to hide from the muggles with spells to make their homes undetectable and also from the fact that the wizarding world do not want to be seen or found out by the muggles. However there is the aspect of how successful the franchises has been and from that view in todays real society it could be seen that witches, wizards and witchcraft are accepted because of the myth behind it and the curiosity it provokes within the minds of todays youth and to some extent its adult population as well.

I give Harry Potter a 5/5.
